Furqan Rizvi, MD completed his residency in Psychiatry as Chief Resident at Department of Psychiatry, Harlem Hospital Center, Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY. He was later appointed Medical Director of Detox Unit, Geriatric Unit, Adult Unit and Inpatient Psychiatrist at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital, San Antonio, Texas.
Currently, Dr. Rizvi is a Medical Director, Military services at University Behavioral Health, Denton, Texas. Dr Rizvi also has a private practice in Frisco, TX. Previously, he also worked as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas, Texas. Dr. Rizvi has been awarded several distinguished scholarships including the American Psychiatry Association’s Janssen Resident Research Scholar- 2014 and Committee of Interns and Resident’s Telluride Scholar- 2014.
Dr. Rizvi is a diplomate, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He is a member of American Psychiatric Association and also a member of Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians. Dr. Rizvi is experienced in providing psychiatric care to individual’s age 10 years and above. He also provides Office-Based Buprenorphine (Suboxone) Treatment.
Dr. Rizvi provides individualized and quality outpatient treatment to promote mental health, wellness and to enhance the quality of life while providing compassionate mental health care with empathy, respect, and cross-cultural sensitivity.
Through his practice, Dr. Rizvi provides comprehensive and cost-effective psychiatry treatment and consultation to his patients, their families, and the community at large. He utilizes therapeutic techniques most appropriate to the patients’ needs, whether biological, psychosocial or a combination thereof.
